The Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-5 and tied for last place in the AFC North division with the Cleveland Browns. The defending Super Bowl champions have been struggling to score touchdowns, except for the 45-7 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Turnovers have killed them. They generated 360 yards of offense to Oakland's 98 and lost 20-13. Ben Roethlisberger threw 4 interceptions and 2 of them were returned for touchdowns. The defense, working with a short field because of the other 2 inteceptions and a fumble, alowed only 6 points. But, if you look closely at the seven games they've played so far, there are about six plays, had they gone Pittsburgh's way, they could be 6-1.
The Steelers have played the easiest part of their schedule and will have to get through Denver, New Orleans, Cincinnati and Baltimore twice to make it to the playoffs. It seemed almost impossible for them to get to the Super bowl last year, but they did what they had to do and won. They have the personal and talent to win and that's why there is still hope. They have to take care of the football and reduce the turnovers. If they can do that, they'll have a chance to win a few games. It seems that with the loss of Jerome Bettis to retirement, Ben Roethlisberger will have to pass more (without interceptions) and get it in the end zone to bring the Steelers back.

Steelers Add Some Zip For 2006!
The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired Rookie free agent running back, Patrick Cobbs from the New England Patriots on Friday September 1st. Who is Patrick Cobbs and what's so great about him? Well, he lead all New England running backs in the pre-season with 188 yards on 38 carries with 3 TDs and a 4.9 yards per carry average. He also caught seven passes for 115 yards, including a 57-yard TD reception. He's only 5-foot 9 or 10 and 210 lbs, but was impressive in college at North Texas. There, he led the nation in rushing in 2003 as a junior (152.7 yards per game), sat out '04 with a knee injury and rushed for over 1,000 yards again last year.
"I didn't even know about him coming out of North Texas," Cowher said. "I never looked at him. Our scouts have. I first saw him that one TV preseason game when New England was playing against Atlanta. He's on the smaller side. He probably won't time fast, but he plays fast. He's got very good balance ... good vision ... excellent hands. He's been impressive. He's a kid who had a very good preseason." This could be a rookie to watch, especially if he gets a chance to play if someone like Duce Staley gets hurt. The Steelers are desparately trying to replace "The Bus", Jerome Bettis, but they still need a consistent power back. Get the rest of the story.

The "Bus's" Motor Is Still Running In His Mouth!
Jerome Bettis, "the Bus" may be out of football, but he's still making headlines. Since leaving the Pittsbugh Steelers after winning Super Bowl XL, "the Bus" has predicted that the Steelers won't do very well this season and that Steelers head coach, Bill Cowher will retire after the 2006 season, even though he has a contract until the end of the 2007 season. Bill Cowher wasn't too happy with Jerome's comments and neither are the fans. We all know that sooner or later Cowher will retire, but what good does it do to bring that up now. The Steelers are preparing to defend their championship (a championship that Bettis had a lot to do with) and it doesn't show much class for him to stir up controversy before the season even gets started. I believe in free speach and he has every right to say it, but he needs to use better judgement. Get the rest of the story. That's Pittsburgh steelers news.

Here we Go steelers, Here We Go!
The Pittsburgh Steelers are back in training camp and getting ready to make a run at repeating as Super Bowl champs. After quarterback Ben Roethlisberger stunned the Steeler nation with a near fatal motorcycle accident and their #1 draft choice, Santonio Holmes was arrested twice before signing with the Steelers and "the Bus" is parked for good, we can only hope that they still have what it takes to win "the Big One". Joey Porter came into camp nursing a sore knee after undergoing surgery. Hines Ward, Super Bowl XL MVP, is working with rookie, Santonio Holmes to bring him up to speed on what's expected when you're a Pittsburgh Steeler. (I hope it takes!) Santonio has a court date in two weeks that could affect the start of the season. The running chores are Willie Parker's to lose and Deuce Staley and Veron Haynes will have to fight it out to see who will replace Jerome Bettis on short yardage situations. There has been some talk as to how long coach Bill Cowher will stay with the Steelers before he retires to his home in North Carolina. Here are some mini videos from this years training camp at St. Vincent college in Latrobe PA you can watch. That's Pittsburgh Steelers news.

Santonio Holmes, T. O. Or No ?
Let's hope the Pittsburgh Steelers don't have another Terrel Owens on their hands with 1st round draft pick, Santonio Holmes. Holmes has gotten into trouble twice after being picked #1 by the Super Bowl XL champion Steelers. His first arrest came in Miami on Memorial Day weekend for disorderly conduct and his 2nd arrest was on June 18th in Columbus, Ohio for domestic violence against Lashae Boone, the mother of one of his three children.
But that's only where the story begins. Apparently, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger tried to talk to his future wide receiver after his 2nd arrest, but Santonio never called him back. "I called him a bunch of times and left a bunch of messages for him, and he has never called me back, so I don't know how to take it," Roethlisberger said two weeks ago. "The ball is in his court ... " Santonio, that's no way to treat the one who could make you a star. Roethlisberger said he was trying to do what Jerome Bettis did for him when he was dealing with his problems. Let's hope Santonio Holmes brings his apologies to camp and thanks Ben for his support. Get the rest of the story. That's Pittsburgh Steelers news.
