On For The Thumb Has Finally Come !
The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL 21-10 to become only the third franchise in NFL history to win 5 Super Bowl Championships. They join the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco Forty Niners in this elite club. The franchise finally has "One for the Thumb," the phrase coined after the Steelers won four National Football League championship rings in a six-season period from 1975 to 1980. Head coach Bill Cowher said as he handed chairman Dan Rooney the Vince Lombardi Trophy. "Mr. Rooney, I've been waiting a long time for this." The players wanted to win the Super Bowl for aging running back , Jerome Bettis. Jerome "The Bus" Bettis, the Motor City native adored by his teammates, announced his retirement immediately after the game. "I play this game for championships. I am a champion, and I think the last stop for The Bus is here in Detroit," said the 13-year veteran. Wide Receiver, Hines Ward was named the game's Most Valuable Player. Get the rest of the story. That's Pittsburgh Steelers news.
