Which Is Worse?
I thought I saw the worst Steelers game this season on Oct. 16th when Tommy Maddox gave the win to Jacksonville, but Sunday's loss to Baltimore was a team effort. I don't know where that Steelers team came from, but it wasn't the same one that overcame numerous injuries to lead their division with a (7-2) record. We all knew what we were getting with Tommy Maddox, but who could have predicted that the coaching staff would go brain dead. The depleated and poor performing Ravens worked their plan to perfection. All they had to do was stack 8 to 10 guys on the defensive line and get to Maddox, which they did. If Bill Cowher and his coaching staff were going to give them a stationary target, then they were going to have no problem finding it. Maddox was 19-36 passing while reielf quarterback, Randle El kept his perferct passer rating when he went 2-2. The only time the Ravens defense looked confused and backed off was when Randle El was under center. Da! The offensive co-ordinator must have been looking at the cheer-leaders then or something. Now the defense. Boller was just coming back from injury as the Ravens starter, so why didn't the Steelers keep the pressure on him like the Ravens defense did on Maddox? We were able to shut down the running game, but on third and long we backed off. Every time we did pressure Boller he made mistakes. Even though the Steelers receivers dropped a couple of balls, it was almost like it didn't matter to Cowher if we won or lost. Get the rest of the story.
